Urban Fictions

PART II
with Kristine Ericson

The focal point of an urban code we inherited from another group is "the Cloud," a three-dimensional grid of points overlaid on an abstract site. The code describes ways in which different types of program must interact with the Cloud and share space with one another, intensifying one of the characteristics of city life: negotiation and cooperation in close quarters.

Kristine and I developed plans for three merged buildings; each exploits the language of the code in a different way to minimize the impact of the code's overbearing emphasis on sharing and ensure each program element maintains its autonomy.
